After our visit to the DE Wyatts, we (mainly the kids and i) stayed with the VA renfrows (aka: nana and papa!...aka:matt's parents!) for a week! Matt ended up having some work out this way too, so he didn’t have to head back till Monday and then he came back Thursday, even though he had to work Friday up in VA, he was able to be there with us for the weekend!
It was a super fun week! At first I think we (nana and i) thought we weren’t going to have enough different things to do, but then we ended up not having enough time to do all the things we came up with! And me, once again being the poor photographer that I am, only took pictures twice the entire week!!! When will I learn…?
Monday we went to the library for story time. We couldn’t get wyatt to go to the one for his age group (oh bubs!!), but Claire went right one in when it was time for her age group. One of Judy’s friends was there with her granddaughter, and she and claire went right in together. Very cute. During both story times, we looked around and ended up checking out around 19 books and 2 videos!!! I think that we did actually read almost all of the books, but I can’t remember if we watched both of the videos? It has made me excited about finding the libraries in our new town! Something for Claire and I to do while wyatt is in preschool!
Tuesday we went to the zoo in Norfolk. We went there last year and really enjoyed it, and this year was no different….well, except that the kids both knew what most of the animals were and the train was working this time!! Wyatt and Claire loved this…it was a little hard getting wyatt off of it!
Wednesday we went on a little adventure to ride a ferry over to James Town. We thought that the kids would enjoy that and think that it was neat that the cars and all took the ride on the boat. It rained on our trip over, but dried up fairly quickly. We drove around a little bit then came back to a park/beach right on the water way and had a picnic. Then we headed back through the pretty country roads to Chesapeake.
Thursday morning the kids and I went to visit one of my sweet college friends, Traci, and her daughter, Evelyn. They live less than 5 minutes from matt’s parents, and we love to fit visits in with them when we are in the area. We caught up while the kiddos played and then we ate a yummy lunch that she had cooked (comfort food…the kind of food I’ve been craving with this awful nausea stuff going on…it’s been a blessing to be on this trip during this time, because I’ve had a hard time with the smells of meat cooking and have been so grateful for all of the meals I haven’t had to think about or cook during the past week and a half. Thank you so much grannie, judy and now traci!! It has been a relief and so yummy. :) ).
Later thursday, after naps, we headed to john and ashley’s for supper and an amazing storm! We were a little worried at one point, but thankfully it went by with out too much fuss. We did stay a little late just to make sure it was on its way out.
Friday we just stayed around the house, and that afternoon ash came over with a little swimming pool. It was a little cool, but it didn’t stop the kids from having a good time!

(she always says "splash in the water" instead of pool!)Saturday matt and I went car lot cruising, comparing the space of all the ones out there that could seat 3 giant car seats!! unfortunately our 4runner that we love, doesn’t have a big enough back seat for this. :( so...we’ll be getting something big (yikes!) or a mini-van (yikes!!)…we both lean toward something big. Mini-vans have lots of super neat features, room and are comfortable, we even know lots of people who own and love them, but for some reason both of us just can’t imagine one being ours…we may eat those words one day…and one day soon, but that’s where we are right now! ;) we also feel that with lucy, a bigger vehicle would work better. Especially since we don’t know how long we’ll be in our current living situation and she pretty much has to go with us everywhere. as it is, without her in the 4runner, we’re packed, when you add her, the poor thing only has room to lay and the constant potential for stuff to fall on her...which it unfortunately does sometimes. With another little one on the way, there’s no room for anything extra in the 4runner. We’d probably be ok if we still had the passat wagon (maybe??) but that thing was a money hole and even if it is a little smaller, the 4runner has been nothing but wonderful.
Also, at some point on Saturday the kids were playing “choo choo train” with some of nana’s chairs…
"all aboard!!!"Sunday we went to church and made the trip home after lunch.
Thank you judy/nana and larry/papa for letting us come visit you for a fun filled week! I know the day in which we were going to leave kept changing and you probably thought we’d never leave, but thank you so much for always making us feel so loved and welcome! We look forward to our next visit, but we’ll try to give you some time to do some of the things around your house you’ve been hoping to do that’s hard to do with two little ones and a pregnant lady in your house! ☺ we love you!
